Maine jumped on the scoreboard first after taking advantage of a five-minute major hitting from behind penalty on Vermont. The Black Bears would set up on the 5-on-3 power play as Jordan Colliton slid the puck to Jennie Gallo who beat Roxanne Douville glove side for her team leading fifth power-play goal of the season.

Vermont responded at the 17:08 mark of the first period on the power play. Hannah Westbrook found Erin Wente open in the slot and she beat Brittany Ott with a wrist shot over her left shoulder to even the score at one apiece. Kailey Nash was credited with the second assist on the play.

After a scoreless second period, Brittany Dougherty put Maine back on top with the Black Bears' second power-play goal of the game. Sullivan found Dougherty in front who beat Douville with a low backhand, giving Maine its second lead of the contest at the 2:36 mark of the third.
