SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Sophomore forward Brittany Esposito's goal 3:34 into overtime propelled Northeastern to a 3-2 road win over Union on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore forward Rachel Llanes and senior forward Kristi Kehoe assisted on Esposito's first tally of the season. Sophomore forward Siena Falino potted the Huskies' other two goals.

It was a back and forth game, with the Huskies and Dutchwomen trading the lead in the first and second periods. Union got on the board first when Callee Heywood beat Husky goaltender Florence Schelling (23 saves) at the 6:11 mark of the first period. Emma Rambo and Rhianna Kurio added assists on Heywood's first marker of the season.

The Huskies battled back at the 12:55 mark when Falino slotted a shot past Dutchwoman goalie Kate Gallagher (34 saves) for her first goal of the season. Sophomore Casie Fields and graduate student Dani Rylan contributed the assists on the goal.

Northeastern took the lead at the 6:15 mark of the second period when freshman Claire Santostefano set up Falino's second goal of the game. The advantage was short lived, however, as seven seconds later, Elsa Bruestle evened the score at 2-2.

The Huskies certainly weren't without chances. Northeastern peppered Gallagher with 19 shots in the second stanza, but only got the one marker.

Two Huskies earned their first points with the team, with Santostefano and Rylan adding one assist each.

Northeastern returns to the ice on Saturday, Oct. 9 when the Huskies visit the Quinnipiac Bobcats. The puck is scheduled to drop at 3 p.m.
