Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Freshmen Alex Carpenter (2g, 1a) and Kate Leary (1g, 2a) each recorded a career-high three points as the fourth-ranked Boston College women's ice hockey team completed a weekend sweep over Vermont with a 4-0 win on Saturday afternoon at Kelley Rink.

Senior goalkeeper Kiera Kingston put the finishing touches on a combined shutout with junior Corinne Boyles to help the Eagles improve to 23-8-3, 15-4-2 Hockey East. Fifteen conference wins are the most by the Eagles under Head Coach Katie King Crowley, the winningest coach in BC history.

Roxanne Douville (3-16-5) registered 52 saves for the Catamounts (4-22-6, 3-16-2 HE), who were outshot 56-19.

Boston College took a 1-0 lead at 10:58 in the first. Senior defender Allison Szlosek hit freshman Emily Field in the neutral zone. The forward weaved through Vermont to put one in from the back left circle for the first point of the game.

Thirty-seven seconds later, a swift second goal from center Alex Carpenter put the Eagles up 2-0. Classmates Kate Leary and Emily Pfalzer found their teammate just outside the right circle, collecting assists on the play.

Vermont generated some offense near the 15-minute mark, attempting to answer the Eagles first period goals with three rapid attempts from just outside the crease. Boyles made the stops to preserve the lead, 2-0, heading into the first intermission.

BC continued to dominate play in the second period, taking 19 shots and limiting Vermont to just five.

With 3:44 left in the second, BC nearly went up 3-0 when Mary Restuccia and Ashley Motherwell paired up on a turnover in the neutral zone that yielded a breakaway. Douville tracked their movement, making a kick save with her right pad to keep it a two-goal deficit.

The Eagles extended their lead to 3-0 at 16:32 in the second. Two early attempts by junior Dru Burns from the blue line were stopped, before the defender connected on a deflection with Leary just outside the crease. Carpenter swung around the net to send home her second goal of the afternoon.

BC continued pressuring in the third, finding a fourth goal at 14:11. Leary's third point of the day came off chances by Burns and Carpenter and marked the final point of the game.

BC held on for the 4-0 victory over the Catamounts, the last home competition for seniors Andrea Green, Kingston, Jessica Martino, Kristin Regan, Restuccia, Megan Shea, Szlosek and Danielle Welch. The Class of 2012 is the second winningest in program history, having gone 77-41-24 during its time at the Heights.

The Eagles close out their regular season with 32 points and have earned a first round bye in the Hockey East Tournament. BC chances for a share of the league title and No. 1 overall seed for the conference tournament rest on the outcome of the No. 7 Northeastern/Providence game on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m.
