Sophomore forward Stephanie Raithby scored a goal for the Huskies

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team was swept in a weekend series at Syracuse following a 2-1 come-from-behind win for the Orange, Saturday afternoon. The Huskies (1-7-2) scored early and led until the midway point of the third period when Syracuse (5-6-0) lit the lamp for two goals, just 25 seconds apart.

UConn sophomore Stephanie Raithby (London, Ont.) scored an unassisted goal, her first of the season, 8:41 into the contest and senior goaltender Alexandra Garcia (Pointe-Claire, Que.) kept Syracuse off the board for the first two periods, turning away all 27 shots she faced.

At the 9:20 mark of the third, Megan Skelly registered the game-tying goal which was quickly followed by the game-winning goal of the stick of Allie Lacombe at 9:45.

The Orange outshot the Huskies 35-23 for the game. In goal for Syracuse, Jene Drinkwater totaled 22 saves, while Garcia posted 33 for UConn.

The Huskies return to Hockey East action next weekend for their first home-and-home of the season as they take on Northeastern. They open play on the road Friday night at 7:00 pm before making the trip back home to the Freitas Ice Forum for a 4:00 pm contest on Saturday.
