Senior forward Chelsea Rapin scored a goal for the Catamounts

CANTON, N.Y. - Six different skaters scored for St. Lawrence as the Saints defeated Vermont 6-1 Tuesday night in non-conference action at Appleton Arena.

The Saints leading scorer Karell Emard opened the scoring 5:18 into the first period. Emard's seventh goal of the season was assisted by Kelly Sabatine and Rylee Smith. The Saints trio of Emard, Sabatine, and Smith had combined for 59 points in 20 games this season.

The Saints scored four even strength goals in the second period to stretch its lead to 5-0 over Vermont. Mel Desrochers scored her fifth goal of the season at the 6:23 mark before Brooke Fernandez and Michelle Ng scored goals 38 seconds apart midway through the period. Bailey Habscheid added her third goal of the season at the 16:41 mark.

The Catamounts got one back with 1:48 left in the second period. Senior captain Chelsea Rapin scored her fourth goal of the season on her team leading sixth shot of the game. Emily Walsh and Erin Wente were credited with assists on the play.

The Saints added one more in the third period as Vanessa Emond notched her fifth goal of the season at the 6:33 mark.

Carmen MacDonald made 28 saves to earn her eighth win of the season, Roxanne Douville made 37 saves for Vermont.

The Saints out shot Vermont 43-29. The win moves St. Lawrence to 11-7-3 overall while Vermont drops to 3-12-6.
