Storrs, Conn. - The #2 women's hockey team played a solid road game and got timely scoring from their first line in a 4-0 shutout over Connecticut on Sunday. The Eagles swept the home-and-home series by a combined score of 10-1.

Alex Carpenter registered an assist and netted two goals as she tallied her 100th career point in just 65 games played. The sophomore is now ninth on the all-time BC scoring list and sits just four points away from setting the single season BC scoring record (64, Erin Magee in 1995-96).

Megan Miller turned aside all 18 Huskies shots for second shutout of the season to improve to 5-2-2. Elaine Chuli made 36 saves for Connecticut in the loss as she falls to 1-17-3.

Both teams were unable to cash in on numerous power plays in the first 20 minutes as the squads combined for five power plays. The Eagles did manage tally the only strike of the period as Haley Skarupa netted her 21st goal of the season at 14:05. The goal was Skarupa's first goal since returning from an injury that sidelined her for four games.

The Huskies had a great opportunity to tie the game with a two-man advantage for 1:17 but BC and Miller held strong to keep UConn off the board. Shots on goal after one period were 12-7 in favor of the Eagles.

BC extended their lead just 3:50 into the second period as Carpenter tallied her 26th goal of the season on a bank shot from the corner that trickled through the pads of Chuli.

Bizzari tallied her second point of the day at 11:09 when she one-timed a centering pass from Meagan Mangene to extend the BC lead to 3-0.

BC extended their lead to 4-0 as Carpenter re-directed in Skarupa's pass right before crashing into the net at 8:33 of third period.

The Eagles smothered the Huskies for most of the afternoon - limiting Connecticut to very few prime goal scoring opportunities. That trend continued in the third as BC shut the door to secure their fifth shutout of the season.
