Junior forward Taylor Wasylk scored the game-winning goal for the Eagles

BOSTON - Taylor Wasylk's goal with 3:48 remaining broke a 1-1 deadlock to give the #2 Eagles (21-4-2, 13-2-1 WHEA) a hard fought 2-1 victory over Harvard at the Beanpot on Tuesday.

BC will advance to the championship game next Tuesday against the winner of the Northeastern/NU semifinal. The Eagles will be going for their fifth Beanpot title in the last eight seasons.

Corinne Boyles turned aside 40 of 41 Crimson shots, including a number of point blank chances to improve to 17-2-0. Emerance Maschmeyer stopped 34 shots to drop to 7-2-1 on the season.

Haley Skarupa returned to the lineup after missing the previous four games with injury. BC's best bid of the period came off the stick of Skarupa who had a open look in the slot on a 3-on-2 but Crimson goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer denied the freshman's chance.

Ashley Motherwell led the way for the Eagles with three shots on goal in the opening period.

Both teams played a tough, playoff style game in the opening stanza as the teams were held scoreless after 20 minutes. Shots on goal were 12-7 in favor of BC after one period.

Stellar goaltending reigned supreme once again in the second period as Boyles and Maschmeyer turned aside every shot on put on goal.

Harvard boasted the best chance of the period on the power play but Boyles slid post-to-post to rob Crimson captain Jillian Dempsey point blank. BC put 13 shots on Maschmeyer in the middle stanza but couldn't muster many prime opportunities as Harvard's defense clamped down on the Eagles. Shots on goal after 40 minutes were 25-24 BC.

The Crimson finally broke the deadlock at 4:52 as Mary Parker put home a backhander over Boyles' pad to give Harvard a 1-0 lead. The Eagles showed their resiliency under three minutes later as freshman Dana Trivigno (11th) put home a saucer pass from Emily Field at 7:22.

BC began to gather the momentum and it paid off as Lexi Bender walked down the left wing and threaded a pass out front to Taylor Wasylk (7th) who buried it to put the Eagles up 2-1 with 3:48 remaining.

Harvard stormed the Eagles end with the extra attacker as the final seconds ticked away but Boyles and the BC defense shut the door to preserve the 2-1 victory.
