BOSTON COLLEGE HEADS TO WOMEN'S FROZEN FOUR AFTER 3-1 WIN OVER HARVARD
Senior defenseman Blake Bolden hands out two assists for Eagles

The Boston College Eagles celebrate Alex Carpenter's goal that made it a 3-1 game

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Facing a 1-0 deficit late in the first period, the No. 4 Eagles tallied three unanswered goals en route to a 3-1 victory over Harvard in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Saturday. With the win, the Eagles advance to its third consecutive Frozen Four against the winner of Minnesota and North Dakota. The national semifinals will take place next Friday at Ridder Arena on the campus of the University of Minnesota.

Corinne Boyles turned in a stellar performance between the pipes for the Eagles - stopping 30 of 31 shots to improve to 22-4-1 this season. Emerance Maschmeyer stopped 21 shots to fall to 12-6-2 for the Crimson this season.

Blake Bolden tallied two assists for the Eagles and senior Caitlin Walsh netted the game-winning goal in her final game at Kelley Rink.

The Crimson had a few sparkling bids early in the game but Boyles denied Harvard with a couple of phenomenal stops to keep the game scoreless in the opening moments.

In similar fashion to their Feb. 5 matchup, Mary Parker staked Harvard to a 1-0 lead at 16:00 of the first period. Haley Skarupa (24th) answered just a minute later as her drive to the net eluded Maschmeyer to knot the game after 20 minutes.

With two minutes elapsed in the second, Walsh (3rd) threw a wrister on goal that found the back of the net to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead. Alex Carpenter (32nd) gave BC the two-goal cushion they would not relinquish as she re-directed Bolden's point shot past Maschmeyer at 15:04 of the second period.

Harvard outshot the Eagles 13-3 in the final stanza but a poised BC defense kept the Crimson from getting any closer.
