STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team was held to just 13 shots as it was shutout, 2-0, by Syracuse at the Freitas Ice Forum on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies are now 2-6-1 overall, while the Orange evened its record out at 4-4-0.

The first goal of the game came late in the first period when Shiann Darkangelo netted a power play goal at the 17:16 mark for her second goal of the weekend. Syracuse outshot UConn 12-1 in the frame.

The Orange struck again, this time early in the second period. Akane Hosoyamada tallied the score just 1:19 into the stanza.

The Huskies had their strongest offensive period in the third when they put seven shots on net. On its second power play opportunity of the night, Connecticut was able to pull the goalie for the final two minutes and skate with a six on four advantage, but were unable to convert.

Sophomore Kayla Campero (Wallingford, Conn.) and senior Maude Blain (Magog, Que.) each blasted several shots on or past the net.

Junior goaltender Sarah Moses (New Hamburg, Ont.) made 34 saves for UConn, while Kallie Billadeau stopped 13 for SU.
