CONNECTICUT EDGED BY YALE IN OVERTIME, 4-3

Sophomore forward Emily Snodgrass had an assist for the Huskies

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team twice led by two goals, but ultimately fell to Yale 4-3 in overtime in the opening round of the Nutmeg Classic at Ingalls Rink. Bulldog forward Kate Martini scored the game-winner 2:15 into the extra frame.

The Huskies (2-11-2) jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind first period goals by junior Stephanie Raithby and freshman Michela Cava. For Cava it was her team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Yale (2-9-0) cut the lead in half when Martini netter first first score of the night on a power play 29 seconds into the second period.

UConn brought the lead back to two at the 2:50 mark of the second when sophomore Rachel Farrel scored a power play goal, assisted by Cava and freshman Leah Buress.

The third period was all Yale as it climbed back into the game with a goal by Alyssa Zuppon and tied it on a Paige Decker score.
