BOSTON COLLEGE EDGES PAST CONNECTICUT, 3-2
Freshman forward Andie Anastos posts goal and assist for Eagles

Junior forward Kate Leary registered two assists for the Eagles

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's ice hockey team (4-8-2, 1-4-2 WHEA) took an early lead and battled throughout, but ultimately fell to No. 7 Boston College (11-3-1, 7-1-0 WHEA) on Sunday afternoon at Freitas Ice Forum.

Kayla Campero (Wallingford, Conn.) and Emily Snodgrass (Eagan, Minn.) scored for UConn, while Michela Cava (Thunder Bay, Ontario) picked up a pair of assists in the setback. Sarah Moses (New Hamburg, Ontario) was solid in net, making 27 saves to keep Connecticut close for the length of the contest. Campero also assisted on Snodgrass' goal, joining Cava with a multi-point afternoon.

Boston College received goals from Dana Trivigno, Melissa Bizzari and the game-winner from Andie Anastos in the victory, and Megan Miller made 17 saves to earn the victory. BC had a 30-19 advantage in shots on goal on the day, including a 22-9 edge after the first period. The Eagles went 1-for-5 on the power play while the Huskies were 0-for-2.

UConn jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 3:39. Cava had a good look at the left post but saw her backhand shot miss wide. The Huskies stayed with the play, rushing the net where they got off three shots on the doorstep, first two stopped by Miller before Campero put one home at the left post. Alice Hughes (La Canada, Calif.) picked up her first point of the year with an assist on the goal.

BC tied the game with a power play goal at 14:02. UConn's Erin Burns (Listowel, Ontario) was sent off for tripping at 13:39. The Eagles cycled the puck back to Trivigno who sniped one through traffic from the point, beating Moses low, stick side.

The Eagles tacked on a late first period goal off the stick of Bizzari at 19:45. BC collected a loose puck in the defensive zone, got up ice where Bizzari flipped a shot past Moses gliding in from the right circle. UConn held a 10-8 edge on shots in the first period.

Early in the second, the Huskies knot the game at 2-2 at 4:47. After missing on a one-time attempt, Snodgrass crept back in front of the net. Cava got the puck behind the goal and fed Snodgrass sitting in front who buried it top-shelf to tie the game at 2-2. Boston College had a pair of power play opportunities late in the period, but UConn killed off both and sent the game to the second period all tied up.

BC finally jumped in front for good at 2:23 of third period, when Anastos whistled a wrist shot from the right circle past Moses to make it 3-2. The Huskies had a power play opportunity at 14:22 in the third, but were unable to get a good look and couldn't threaten again.

UConn is back in action next weekend when it travels to Hamden, Conn. to participate in the 2013 Nutmeg Classic on Nov. 29 and 30. The Huskies will face Yale on Friday at 1 p.m., then either host-Quinnipiac or RIT on Saturday.
