Senior defenseman Meagan Mangene had an assist for the Eagles

HAMDEN, Conn. - Freshman Kristyn Capizzano notched a goal and an assist but it was not enough as the No. 5 Boston College women's hockey team fell to No. 7/9 Quinnipiac, 3-2 Friday afternoon. The Bobcats scored the game-winning goal with just over two minutes remaining in the contest to top the Eagles.

BC took an early 1-0 lead with a goal at 5:35 in the first period. Meagan Mangene took a shot that was blocked by a diving Quinnipiac defender, picked up her own rebound and fired another shot from the edge of the circle that Kristyn Capizzano tipped past Bobcat goaltender Chelsea Laden to get BC on the board.

BC outshot Quinnipiac 11-6 in the first period and looked to be in control, but the Bobcats bounced back in the second stanza. Shianne Darkangelo scooped up a rebound on the far post and fired the puck into the back of the net at 12:36 of the second period to tie the game 1-1.

Quinnipiac took the lead just before the second intermission when Amanda Colin punched in a power play goal at 19:07 of the middle frame to give the Bobcats a 2-1 lead.

The Eagles responded with a power play goal of their own when Andie Anastos beat Laden at 12:34 of the third period to tie the game up once again, this time at 2-2.

Quinnipiac took the lead for good at 17:57 when Kelly Babstock skated the puck behind the BC net and passed it from the top of the circle to the front of the crease where Darkangelo lifted it into the net for her second goal of the game.

Corinne Boyles stopped 24 shots in 58:56 and falls to 7-3-0 in defeat. Laden made 22 saves and improves to 9-1-3.

QU had a 27-24 advantage in shots in the game.

BC was 1-3 on the power play, while Quinnipiac went 1-4 on the man advantage.
