CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Sophomore forward Haley Skarupa scored three goals and added an assist to lead No. 2 Boston College to a 5-2 victory over St. Lawrence Friday night at Kelley Rink.

The Saints got on the board first at 1:42 in the first period with a goal by forward Abbey McRae. The sophomore stuffed the puck into the net just under the pads of BC goaltender Corinne Boyles to give St. Lawrence a 1-0 lead.

BC answered late in the first frame with two short-handed goals from Skarupa and Andie Anastos that were scored just 12 seconds apart. Skarupa took a feed from Taylor Wasylk and made two quick moves to beat Saints netminder Giulia Mazzocchi. Anastos got behind the defensemen, went forehand to backhand right in front of the net, and slid the puck in the far side of the goal to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.

BC scored two goals in the middle stanza, the first from Taylor Wasylk and the second from Skarupa, and went into the third period up 4-1. Freshman Kristyn Capizzano assisted on both goals, marking her second and third of the season.

Skarupa scored her third goal of the game, and her fourth point, when she fired the puck into the net from the slot at 9:40 in the final frame. After pulling their goaltender with a little over a minute remaining in the game, the Saints notched the final goal of the contest with one second remaining. Mel Desrochers found the puck in the middle of a scramble in front of the net and lit the lamp just before time expired, making the final score 5-2.

Boyles stopped 26 of 28 shots and improves to 2-0-0. Mazzocchi made 32 saves and allowed 5 goals in 58:57. She falls to 0-4-0.

Both teams were scoreless on the man advantage. St. Lawrence was 0-5 and BC was 0-2.

Shots were even after two periods, but BC had a 16-7 advantage in the third stanza.

The two teams will face off against each other again Saturday at 2 p.m. at Kelley Rink.
