ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Kourtney Kunichika led the RIT Tigers with two goals as they defeated Vermont 6-0 in non-conference action at the Frank Ritter Memorial Ice Arena Friday night.

Celeste Brown opened the scoring for the Tigers 12:36 into the first period. Brown's second goal of the season was assisted by Cassie Clayton and Morgan Scoyne. It was the second time this season RIT has scored first.

Kunichika scored her team leading third goal of the season with an unassisted tally for the Tigers with 28 seconds left in the first period.

Following the first period the Catamounts changed goaltenders with Madison Litchfield (17 saves) coming in for Roxanne Douville (8 saves) to see her first collegiate action.

Just 43 seconds into the second period the Tigers' Brittany St. James scored her first collegiate goal to give RIT a three-goal lead. Kolbee McCrea and Scoyne assisted on the goal.

The Tigers extended their lead to 5-0 heading into the second intermission with two goals via their special teams. Jess Paton scored shorthanded at the 7:41 mark before Kunichika added a power play tally with 9:18 left in the frame.

RIT added another insurance goal as McCrea rounded out the scoring in the third period with her second goal of the season at the 11:47 mark.

"We're not executing at the level we need to," said head coach Jim Plumer. "It's frustrating at both ends of the ice."

The Catamounts will conclude the two-game series on Saturday afternoon with a 3 p.m. faceoff against the Tigers.
