ORONO, Maine --- The University of Maine women's ice hockey team lost to Moncton University 5-1 at Alfond Arena Sunday afternoon. It was a single game exhibition.

Moncton took advantage of an early power play in the first period with a goal from Marie-Pier Arsenault at (5:49). The puck deflected off Marika Lacriox's skate and found its way to Arsenault in front of the net. Arsenault did the rest, putting her team up 1-0.

Amelie Lariviere added a second goal at (7:51) in the first period. Lariviere tipped home a rebound from Marie-Pier Corri's shot. Felicia Anctil was also credited with an assist.

The Super Blue received a lucky bounce at (1:56) in the second period. Brittany Poitras took a slap shot from the blue line, which ricocheted off Natalie Robinson's (Huntsville, Ontario) pads directly into the air. The puck landed behind Robinson and trickled into the goal giving Moncton a 3-0 lead. Amelie Dion and Marie-Pier Arsenault set up Poitras on the scoring play.

Amelie Dion battled through a scrum in front of the Maine net to add Moncton's fourth goal of the day at (7:09). Kaitlyn Gallaway and Felicia Anctil, respectively, each had an assist.

Maine shook of their scoring woes at (3:50) in the third period with a penalty shot goal from Jillian Langtry (Fort Frances, Ontario). Manon Lamarre hooked Langtry as she broke away from the pack. The referees penalized Lamarre, and Langtry took advantage.

Catherine Dumas add an assist fifth goal at (8:16) for Moncton.

Natalie Robinson saved 6 of 10 shots on goal, and Mariah Fujimagari (Markham, Ontario) saved 9 of 10 shots on goal after entering the game. Emilie Bouchard saved all 13 shots seen for the Super Blue, while her substitute, Gabrielle Forget, saved 29 of 30 shots on goal. The Black Bears were 0-2 on the power play, while Moncton scored on goal in four opportunities.

The Black Bears return to action January 10th at Boston University. Puck drop is scheduled from 3:00 pm.
