NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - The Merrimack College women's ice hockey team saw five different Warriors score, including a hat trick from sophomore Katelyn Rae (Courtice, Ontario), as the Navy and Gold routed Canadian club team the Cambridge Rivulettes, 7-0, in a preseason exhibition on Saturday night.

How It Happened
Rae made it known early she was ready to get this sophomore season for the program underway, scoring the first goal of the game just 1:12 into the first period. Notching the second assist on the goal was freshman Mikyla Grant-Mentis (Brampton, Ontario), making an impact less than two minutes into her first bit of collegiate competition.
Just over three minutes later the Warriors would extend the lead to 2-0, as sophomore and fellow Whitby Wolves alum to Rae in Emily Volpe (Witby, Ontario) would net a goal at the 4:44 mark. Volpe also registered a goal in Merrimack's 2015 preseason exhibition.
The early 2-0 lead established by the Warriors would remain the same for the final 15 minutes of the period and into the second, where the game's designated captain in sophomore Annie Boeckers (Otsego, Minn.) would score the third of the game for Merrimack on a shorthanded effort, making it 3-0.
Rae's second of the game would come at the 12:06 mark of the second, and again would be the result of a feed from Grant-Mentis, who looked impressive in her debut. Volpe would also notch an assist on the goal for her second the point of the game.
Merrimack would carry the 4-0 lead into the third period, and then quickly saw it turn into a five-goal lead thanks to Rae capping off the hat trick on a power-play goal to make it 5-0. Redshirt sophomore Jackie Pieper (Edina, Minn.) would pick up her lone point of the game on the goal with an assist.
2015-16 Hockey East All-Rookie selection and sophomore Paige Voight (St. Michael, Minn.) would get involved in the scoring just two minutes following Rae's third to make it 6-0 ear ly in the third frame. Freshmen Chloe Cook (Summerland, British Columbia) and Abby Lafreniere (Kirkland Lake, Ontario) would both see their names on a collegiate score sheet for the first time, each picking up an assist on the goal.
The seventh and final goal of the game from the Warriors would be a flashy goal from sophomore Jessica Bonfe (Woodbury, Minn.). From right outside of the crease to the right of the net, Bonfe would lift a backhand and roof it over the goaltender's shoulder to cap off the seven goal night for Merrimack.
Inside The Numbers
In their first bit of competition this season, the Warriors saw 12 different skaters tally a point, including three different freshmen. Furthermore, six different Warriors registered multi-point games.
Merrimack looked strong as a team at the faceoff circle, finding themselves favored at the dot by a 36-29 margin over the Rivulettes. On top of her three-point night, Boeckers also went 10 for 17 in faceoffs.
