STORRS, Conn. After an impressive third period the night before, the Black Bears couldn't find a way to score against Quinnipiac who swept the weekend series in their first two games of the season.

The first period remained scoreless as Quinnipiac outshot Maine 7-3 in the period, with both teams getting a power play opportunity in the first; Maine only getting 1 shot on the powerplay that period, QU only getting 2.

All three Quinnipiac goals came in the 2nd period; they opened up the scoring 6 minutes into the second period as Taylor Cianfarano scored her third goal of the weekend to put the Bobcats up 1-0. Then 11:45 into the period Meghan Turner slipped one just underneat the elbow of Maine Goaltender Carly Jackson glove side as they took a 2-0 lead. As the period was winding down Melissa Samoskevich sniped one from the left faceoff dot with 48 seconds remaining in the period to give QU their third and final goal.

Shots were even at 7 apiece in the third but no scoring occurred, as Quinnipiac was able to hold on to their 3 goal lead and improve to 2-0-0 on the season. Maine Goaltender Carly Jackson gets the loss and falls to 0-3-0 on the season, despite saving 22 of 25 shots. Sydney Rossman for Quinnipiac gets her second win with the shutout.

The Black Bears travel to Boston College to begin Hockey East conference play this coming weekend, Oct. 8-9. Puck drop is at 2:00pm for both games.
