GAME RECAP

- UNH jumped out to a 2-0 lead on first-period goals at 2:59 and 8:04. Rheault's blast from the left point sailed into the net for the first goal of the game; Abby Chapman (Beverly Hills, Mich.) carried the puck down the left wing and dropped the puck back to Rheault. Ali Praus (Long Lake, Minn.) set up the second goal as she skated into the left circle and centered a pass to Meghara McManus (Milton, Mass.), who wristed a shot into the upper-right corner; Rheault was also credited with an assist.

- Vermont answered quickly to close within 2-1 at 8:34 as Casey Leveillee shoveled a loose puck from the right doorstep that found its way past Smith, who had stopped Kourtney Menches and trickled across the goal line.

- The Wildcats converted their first power play of the game into a goal and 3-1 lead at 14:42 when Curtis' bouncing pass from the left circle was settled by Amy Schlagel (Blaine, Minn.) at the right doorstep before she deposited the puck into the open near side; Pelletier was credited with the secondary assist as, from the right boards, she sent the puck around the boards to Curtis.

- UNH capitalized on a 5-on-3 power play to extend the advantage to 4-1 with 17 seconds remaining in the first period. Curtis initiated the scoring sequence with a pass to Pelletier at the left point. She sent a pass across the high slot and Julia Fedeski (Algonquin Highlands, Ontario) blasted a shot into the cage.

- UNH carried that three-goal lead and 15-7 shot advantage into the first intermission.

- Vermont changed goalies at the start of the second period with Melissa Black (11 saves) exiting in favor of Madison Litchfield, who stopped all 12 shots she faced the rest of the game.

- The Catamounts trimmed the deficit to 4-2 at 2:02 of the second stanza when Victoria Andreakos jammed home a loose puck in the crease. Eve-Audrey Picard, with the initial shot from the left boards, and Saana Valkama were credited with assists.

- UVM recorded a 17-8 shot advantage in the second period - the Catamounts were on the power play for 8 of 20 minutes.

- The Catamounts, who pulled Litchfield in favor of an extra skater with 3:03 left in regulation, outshot the hosts 11-4 in the final frame but could not get any closer.
