DURHAM, N.H. - After suffering a tough 3-1 loss to the University of Connecticut on Saturday, the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team answered back with a 3-1 victory of their own Sunday afternoon.

All three goals came in the second period, all within the span of seven minutes. Goals were scored by Devan Taylor (North Billerica, Mass.), Abby Chapman (Beverly Hills, Mich.) and Taylor Wenczkowski (Rochester, N.H.).

The Wildcats held the Huskies scoreless until the final three minutes of the game, when 6-on-4 advantage for UConn resulted in a power play, extra strength goal to spoil the shutout for freshman goaltender Ava Boutilier (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) who tied her career-high in saves in a single game with 39. Boutilier is now 8-8-5 on the season.

GAME RECAP

- Both teams saw plenty of scoring chances in the first period, with each team getting two power play opportunities and tallying 29 total shots (UConn 15, UNH 14).

- The Wildcats scored three goals within the span of seven minutes in the second period, all even strength.

- Their first strike, 7:55 into the period, came on a UConn shot, blocked by Revkin, who led the charge with Taylor into the offensive zone. Taylor charged through the middle, got the pass, and put it just past the skate of Belanger for the opening goal of the game.

- Less than four minutes later, a neutral-zone steal from Wenczkowski started a rush for Chapman, who passed to Praus in front of the net; Praus had a shot saved, but the puck was still loose and Chapman followed her pass and poked it in.

- 14:41 into the period, the Wildcats got their third goal as Praus took the puck on the right side of the offensive zone, passed to Kate Haslett (Rothesay, New Brunswick), who managed to get it to Wenczkowski out in front who buried it five-hole.

- In the third, with two Wildcat players in the box and the UConn goalie pulled, the Wildcats were able to hold off the Huskies for the first penalty, but the Huskies got on the board 17 seconds into the following power play to break the shutout.
