NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - The Merrimack College women's ice hockey team picked up two more points in the Hockey East standings, defeating New Hampshire, 4-2, on Wednesday night from Lawler Rink. The Warriors were able to salvage a series split with the Wildcats, going 1-1-1 during the season series.

Rapid Recap:

- Merrimack had a great chance to take the lead midway through the first period. The puck was centered in the crease and the net was open, but the shot went just to the right of the post. With 17 seconds left in the first, the Warriors took a 1-0 lead, thanks to junior Annie Boeckers' (Otsego, Minn.) first tally of the season.

- The second period saw four goals scored, two by each team. A short-handed goal by junior Katelyn Rae (Courtice, Ontario) made it 2-0 Warriors, before UNH cut the lead in half on a power play goal 10 seconds later at 11:26. Merrimack extended its lead thanks to sophomore Mikyla Grant-Mentis (Brampton, Ontario) to make it 3-1, but a late goal by the Wildcats at 18:07 made it 3-2 heading into the second intermission.

- New Hampshire had a slim 6-4 shot advantage in the third, but the Warriors scored the only goal of the period on an empty-netter with under two minutes remaining to secure the victory.

Scoring Summaries

- The Warriors struck at 19:43 of the first period. Freshman Courtney Maud (Georgetown, Ontario) skated around the net, finding junior Paige Sorensen (Plymouth, Minn.) at the left point. Sorensen sent a shot towards net, where Boeckers deflected the puck just inside the left post.

- Rae poked the puck away from a UNH defender in the neutral zone and skated in on net for the short-handed goal at 11:16 of the second.

- A power play goal by Amy Schlager cut the lead in half, as she skated into the offensive zone and beat junior Samantha Ridgewell (Outlook, Saskatchewan) at 11:26.

- Grant-Mentis received a pass from junior Madison Morey (Fairbanks, Alaska) to the left side of the net, before lifting her shot to the upper left corner of the net at 12:45 of the period.

- Abby Chapman was able to redirect a shot from Julia Fedeski at the point, to cut the lead to 3-2 in favor of Merrimack at 18:07 of the second period.

- Rae scooped up a loose puck in the neutral zone and took a shot from the blue line to score on the empty-netter with 1:28 remaining in the game.
