HAMDEN, Conn. - University of New Hampshire sophomore forward Carlee Turner (Scottsdale, Ariz.) tallied two goals in the second period as the Wildcats rolled over non-conference opponent Quinnipiac on Friday evening, winning by a score of 4-2.

Turner scored the Wildcats' first goal of the game to tie the game at 1-1, and then scored again later in the period to put the 'Cats in the lead 3-2. It's her first game-winning goal of the season.

Sophomore forward Meghara McManus (Milton, Mass.) also scored in the second period to tie the game at 2-2. McManus is now on a two-game point streak with a goal and an assist. Freshman goaltender Ava Boutilier (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) made 30 saves in the victory.

GAME RECAP

- The first period ended in a 0-0 tie after an 8-6 advantage on the shot chart for Quinnipiac.

- The second period exploded with five total goals. The first came 2:02 into the period giving Quinnipiac a 1-0 lead.

- One minute and 14 seconds later, Turner responded with her first goal of the game, assisted by Carlee Toews (Grand Prairie, Alberta).

- With the game tied, Quinnipiac retook the lead six minutes into the period on another even strength goal.

- Three minutes after, McManus struck 9:46 into the period, once again tying the game.

- 15 minutes into the second period, Turner capped off the period with the go-ahead goal, assisted by Julia Scammell (Truro, Nova Scotia).

- The Wildcats held on in the third period, and when the Bobcats pulled their goaltender, Amy Schlagel (Blaine, Minn.) sealed the game with an empty-net goal 18:49 into the period.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

- Along with McManus, Toews also increased her point streak to two games with one goal, two assists.

- Toews' multi-assist night is also her third of the season, fourth of her career.

- The win was only the second win of the season for the Wildcats in which the opponent scored first (2-7-2 record).

- UNH is now 3-3-2 against ECAC teams this season.
