Sophomore forward Daryl Watts scored two goals for the Eagles

BOSTON - Daryl Watts scored two goals and Maddy McArthur made a career-high 33 saves as the No. 8 Boston College women's hockey team topped No. 3 Northeastern, 4-1. in the Beanpot Tournament consolation game. Ryan Little finished with two points on two assists for the Eagles while Watts finished with a game-high 12 shots on goal.

Megan Keller's score early in the first gave BC the lead after one. The Huskies, in turn, struck early in the second period to even the score but Watts' power-play tally less than 90 seconds later put the Eagles back up, 2-1. Kelly Browne and Watts both scored in the first nine minutes of the third period to put the game away.

McArthur was key in helping BC go 7-for-7 on the penalty kill on the night piling up 26 saves through two periods before finishing with her career-high 33. Aerin Frankel finished with 43 saves for the Huskies. Northeastern was 0-for-7 on the power play and BC was 1-for-4 while the having the 47-34 edge in shots on goal.

SCORING

1st, 5:47 | 1-0, BC GOAL: Below the goal line, Ryan Little backhanded the puck behind the net to Lonergan and the junior deked a defender and opened up space to slip a pass to Keller for a one-timer from the dot.

2nd, 3:04 | 1-1, NU GOAL: McArthur saved Alina Mueller's initial shot but the rebound popped out to Veronika Pettey for a tap-in from the top of the crease.

2nd, 4:27 | 2-1, BC GOAL: Makenna Newkirk picked the puck up behind the net and found Watts at the left dot. Watts worked back to her forehand and then sent a wrist shot into the opposite, top right corner.

3rd, 4:13 | 3-1, BC GOAL: Little pressured below the goal line to win the puck and centered it to Browne. The rookie then shot through traffic and into the net.

3rd, 8:27 | 4-1, BC GOAL: Cayla Barnes broke up a Northeastern entry attempt in the neutral zone and backhanded a pass across the zone to Watts on the right wing. The sophomore skated in and wristed a shot from the right dot to the far post.


GAME NOTES

- BC is now 39-38-2 all-time in the Beanpot and 32-16-2 since becoming a varsity program (1995-present) ... against Northeastern in the Beanpot, BC is 10-4-1 as a varsity team and 10-13-1 overall.

- This was the third time that BC and Northeastern have met in the Beanpot consolation game.

- Overall, BC is now 45-38-7 all-time against Northeastern ... the Eagles have a mark of 7-4-1 in neutral site meetings.

- Head coach Katie Crowley now has a career mark of 35-9-4 against the Huskies.

- This was the first time this season that Northeastern was held to less than two goals in a game.

- This was just the fourth time this season that Northeastern has given up four-plus goals ... three of those games have been against Boston College.

- Caitrin Lonergan has now registered at least one point in eight straight games ... Daryl Watts has at least one point in five consecutive contests.
