BELFAST, Northern Ireland - Senior Kasidy Anderson scored two goals and freshman Alina Mueller added a goal and an assist to help the No. 3 Northeastern women's hockey team to a 3-1 victory over No. 5 Clarkson on Sunday in the finale of the Friendship Series at SSE Arena.
Anderson put Northeastern (14-2-3) on top at 6:46 of the first period with a wrister under the crossbar following a faceoff win by Mueller at the left of the Clarkson (14-5-1) net.
After Loren Gabel tied the game in the second period, the Huskies came out fast in the third and took the lead for good at the 7:19 mark when Mueller blasted home a one-timer from between the circles after a pretty setup by sophomore Skylar Fontaine.
Anderson then put the game away at 15:53, picking up a loose puck at the Clarkson blue line, before skating in on the left wing and rifling a shot through the pads on Kassidy Sauve (26 saves) to give her the tournament lead in scoring with three goals in two games.
Sophomore Aerin Frankel made 23 saves, including a lunging stop on Clarkson's Michaela Pejzlova in the final minutes of the second period.
With the win, the Huskies improved to 4-1-1 against top-10 opponents this season.
Northeastern will return home on Monday ahead of a home-and-home series vs. rival Boston College this weekend.
