BOSTON - Freshman Alina Mueller extended her point streak to 21 straight games with a three-point effort to help the No. 3 Northeastern women's hockey team to a 5-2 victory over UConn on Friday afternoon at Matthews Arena.
Trailing 2-1 after the first period, Northeastern (16-3-3, 14-2-2 WHEA) scored three times in the middle frame - including twice in the final two minutes - to take control of the contest.
Mueller led the charge with an assist on Veronika Pettey's game-tying power-play goal at 6:36 of the frame, before giving the Huskies the lead for good at 18:00 with a redirection goal off a Maddie Hartman point shot.
Senior Kasidy Anderson then scored for the sixth straight game at 19:55 of the second stanza, finishing a beautiful tic-tac-toe passing sequence from Tori Sullivan and Mueller to make it 4-2 Northeastern.
Junior Matti Hartman and senior Maddie Hartman also lit the lamp for the Huskies, who improved to 8-0-0 against Hockey East opponents at Matthews Arena this season. Northeastern also improved to 3-0-0 this season following a loss.
Sophomore Aerin Frankel earned the win with 21 saves to move to 10-0-0 in league games this season.
The Huskies will look for the weekend sweep on Saturday at UConn at 3 p.m.
