Sophomore Goalie Aerin Frankel stopped 26 shots for the Huskies

DURHAM, N.H. - University of New Hampshire freshman forward Lindsey Dumond (Hampton, N.H.) tallied her first career goal and junior defender Tori Howran (Bancroft, Ontario) notched her second goal of the season as the Wildcats women's ice hockey team tied the Vermont Catamounts by a score of 2-2 on Saturday afternoon.

All four goals came in the first period of play, but after that it was a defensive stand through the final two periods and overtime with both goalies making 20 and 22 saves each. On the UNH side, sophomore Ava Boutilier (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) stopped 22 of her 27 saves in the final three.

The Wildcats return home this coming Friday, November 9 at 5 P.M. at the Whittemore Center, for a first of a home-and-home series with #8 Northeastern. For tickets, visit UNHWildcats.com or by call (603) 862-4000.

GAME RECAP

- Freshman forward Lindsey Dumond opened up the scoring, with the first goal of the game coming 8:01 into the period. The Wildcats held their first lead of the weekend series, 1-0. Her goal was assisted by Ellie Sasaki (Markham, Ontario) for her third career assist and Grace Middleton (Midland Michigan) for her third assist of the season.

- Vermont responded just over two minutes later on an even-strength goal of their own by Picard.

- After Vermont went up 2-1 on a goal 16:17 into the second period, UNH responded exactly 60 seconds later on a goal from Tori Howran assisted by Devan Taylor (North Billerica, Mass.) and Maddie Truax (Gardner, Mass.). It was Truax's first point of the season, and Taylor's fourth.

- Both teams had a power play opportunity in the first period, but neither could convert, with all four goals coming event strength.

- UNH killed both Vermont power plays in the second, allowing four shots, and all three power plays in the third, allowing only two shots. The Wildcats only had one other power play opportunity in regulation.

- A Vermont penalty with no time left in regulation resulted in a UNH penalty shot, but the shot was saved by the UVM goaltender and the game went to overtime.
