ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team fell in overtime to the Boston College Eagles, 3-2.

The first period found a pair of goals, one by the Eagles and the other by the Black Bears.

Ella MacLean got Maine going early, as she fired home a slap shot from the blue line 5:02 into the first period. For MacLean, it was her second goal of her rookie season. Liga Miljone (18) and Ida Kuoppala (12) picked up the assists on the play.

Boston College would answer back at the 18:25 mark as Maegan Beres netted her fourth goal of the season to tie the score back up at 1-1. Hadley Hartmetz (11) picked up the assist for the Eagles.

Boston College would find the back of the net at the 6:12 mark of the second period as they got the temporary lead in the contest. Delaney Belinskas scored her 18th goal of the season to grab the lead at 2-1. Olivia Finocchiaro (11) and Jillian Fey (5) picked up the assists.

The Black Bears would find the answer to re-tie the game at 2-2 as Ida Kuoppala scored her 16th goal of the season. Leech (10) gathered the loose puck at the blue line and fired a shot on Kelly Pickreign, where Kuoppala tipped it in to get the score. Tereza Vanisova (17) picked up the secondary assist on the goal.

The game would head into overtime, where Boston College would come out on top. Belinskas scored her second of the game, 19th of the season to give the Eagles their 16th win of the season. Finocchia (12) and Hartmetz (12) picked up assists on the play.

Pickreign would pick up the win for Boston College as she finished with 30 saves. Carly Jackson picked up 38 saves in losing effort.

Maine, who stands at 12-13-7, 8-11-6 in HEAW, will stay at home and play the Eagles at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, Feb. 15. That game will be the senior game.
