Junior goaltender Aerin Frankel recorded her fifth shutout of the season for the Huskies

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The No. 3 Northeastern Huskies used a strong first period to top the Boston College women's hockey team, 6-0, on Friday afternoon at Kelley Rink.

The Eagles carried the pace of play in the opening 10 minutes, jumping out to a 6-0 lead in shots on goal. The Huskies, though, struck 12 minutes into the game and then added two more before the end of the frame. Northeastern would find the net twice in the second and once in the third for the final 6-0 score.

Maddy McArthur finished with 11 saves before giving way to Kelly Pickreign midway through the game. Pickreign went on to record 16 saves. Aerin Frankel made 26 saves for the shutout victory. Northeastern held the 33-26 lead in shots on goal. Neither BC (0-for-2) or Northeastern (0-for-4) converted on the power play.

1st, 12:36 | 0-1, NU GOAL: Entering the zone on a 3-on-2, Skylar Fontaine delayed in the right circle before slotting a pass across the zone to Aline Mueller for a tap-in at the right post.

1st, 16:22 | 0-2, NU GOAL: Codie Cross fed Mueller into the neutral zone and Mueller touched it into the offensive zone, skated onto the puck and wristed a shot far post from the left circle.

1st, 18:29 | 0-3, NU GOAL: Fed at the top of the zone, Cross threaded her wrist shot high and into the upper right corner of the net through traffic.

2nd, 10:16 | 0-4, NU GOAL: Skylar Fontaine was fed at the right point and she placed her slapshot past McArthur's glove.

2nd, 13:05 | 0-5, NU GOAL: From the right point, Lauren MacInnis wristed a shot to the front of the net, with Mia Brown tipping it inside the post.

3rd, 13:32 | 0-6, NU GOAL: The Huskies dug the puck out of the corner to the right of Pickreign, with Brown then sliding a pass to Megan Carter at the top of the circle for a wrist shot.


GAME NOTES

- BC now holds a 45-41-7 all-time mark against Northeastern ... the Eagles are 19-7-4 at home against the Huskies.

- Cayla Barnes finished with a game-high seven blocked shots ... BC blocked 14 shots in the game.

- Delaney Belinskas led BC with six shots on goal while Barnes added five shots on goal.
