DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team defeated the #10 Boston University Terriers Saturday afternoon by a score of 4-2.

After falling behind 1-0 early in the contest, the Wildcats rallied back with a tying goal late in the period, two more in the second, and an insurance power play goal in the third.

It's UNH's first win over BU since the 2017 playoffs, when the Wildcats took game one of the best-of-three series by the same score, 4-2, at BU. It was UNH's first regular season victory over BU since November 9, 2012, which the Wildcats also won 4-2 at home.

The Wildcats are on the road for their next weekend of play; they travel to Vermont next Friday, October 18, and then to Northeastern on Sunday, October 20.

UNH returns home Friday, October 25, hosting the University of Maine at 6 P.M. for the first iteration of this season's Border Battle, sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings. For tickets, visit UNHWildcats.com or call (603)862-4000.

GAME RECAP

- BU tallied the first goal of the game at 5:58 of the first period. Abby Cook made a pass to teammate Sammy Davis from the blue line who instantly passed it back allowing Cook to make the first shot of the powerplay to the upper right glove side of the goal.

- UNH responded later in the first; at 14:28, Meghara McManus (Milton, Mass.) slid the puck into the bottom stick side of the goal after receiving a pass from Carlee Turner (Scottsdale, Ariz.) from behind the goal.

- The Wildcats took the lead 3:51 into the second period. Tori Howran (Bancroft, Ontario) slid the puck through the offensive zone to Abby Chapman (Beverly Hills, Mich.) who kept it along to Emily Rickwood (Brantford, Ontario). Rickwood shot the puck over the right shoulder of Stuart for the 2-1 lead.

- UNH scored its third goal just three minutes later as Lauren Martin (Cambridge, Ontario) skated the entire way down the rink shooting at the blue line. Bouncing off the backboard, the puck hit Stuarts skate sliding back into the goal. That would end up being the game-winning goal, Martin's first career game-winning goal.

- The Terriers tallied their second goal of the game late in the second. Nara Elia and Courtney Correia pass in the corner of the rink sending it into a scrum in front of the net. Sammy Davis charged the puck and was able to get it through traffic and into the net.

- The Wildcats tallied their fourth goal in the third period at 6:46 into the period. Emily Rickwood sent the puck from the blue line and it bounced off McManus to the right side of the BU net; Carlee Turner took a tough-angle shot that was able to sneak through and the Wildcats held a two-goal lead for the final 13 minutes.
