STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's hockey team defeated Ryerson College, 5-1, on Friday night at the Freitas Ice Forum.
The exhibition contest was the first glimpse of the 2019-20 squad and the Huskies were clicking.
Natalie Snodgrass broke through with the first goal of the night at 8:07.
Ryerson briefly tied the game 30 seconds into the second period but the Huskies were able to respond.
Viki Harkness and Coryn Tormala each tallied goals on helpers from Taylor Wabick.
UConn expanded the lead with its special teams play in the third period. Morgan Wabick and Briana Colangelo both notched power play goals to close out a 5-1 win for the Huskies.
The Huskies return to the ice on Saturday at the Freitas Ice Forum against the Connecticut Whale at 3 p.m. for their final exhibition.
