Sophomore defenseman Ida Press scored a goal for the Black Bears
Maine Topped by Dartmouth, 5-2

ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team fell to Dartmouth College Saturday evening, 5-2.

The first period was a closely competitive between the Black Bears and Dartmouth, with both teams finding the net.

Maine got the scoring started in the first period, with Ida Press getting a takeaway in neutral ice and firing a slapshot by Hannah Humphreys to give the Black Bears a 1-0 lead just 3:04 into the game. It was her third goal of the season, second of the weekend. Dartmouth would answer back just 26 seconds later as Jennifer Costa scored, beating Loryn Porter in net. Christina Rombaut and Emily McLaugh picked up assists on the play.

The Black Bears would answer back, as Ally Johnson scored her second goal of the season, going coast to coast to power her shot to the back of the net. Tereza Vanisova (10) and Daria Tereshkina (3) picked up assists on the play.

Porter would end the period with four saves.

The rest of the game was mainly Dartmouth, as they would score twice in the second period and twice in the third period. Bailee Brekke would score the game tying goal for Dartmouth, as she scored a power play goal against the Black Bears. CC Bowlby and Catherine Trevors picked up assists on the play. Dartmouth would later take the lead off of a shorthanded goal by CC Bowlby, who was set up by Gabby Billing.

Carly Jackson would enter the game after the Bowlby goal.

Dartmouth would continue finding the back of the net, as Christine Rombaut would score a powerplay goal at the 10:30 mark of the third period. Currie Putrah and Givanna Foglia picked up assists on the goal.

Dartmouth would find the net once more, scoring their third power play goal of the game off of the stick of Catherine Trevors. CC Bowlby picked up the assist, her third point of the game.

Maine, who falls to 7-7-2 overall, will host the University of Vermont on Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7. Those Hockey East matchups are scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. respectively.
