NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's hockey team defeated Merrimack, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at Lawler Rink to complete the season sweep of the Warriors.

Holy Cross struck early thanks to Emma Lange's first collegiate goal and hung on for the length of the game to earn its first Hockey East season sweep in program history. After the Warriors outshot the Crusaders, 12-6, in the first period, Holy Cross held the 23-18 advantage the rest of the way.

The Holy Cross defense came up big, killing off all five penalties it faced, including a minute and a half of a 5-on-3. Jada Brenon was in goal for her first collegiate shutout, stopping 30 shots on the day.

SCORING SUMMARY:

1-0 HC (1st, 1:49, EV): Lange put the Crusaders up off a great individual effort. She won the puck along the boards, stick handled around multiple defenders, and beat Merrimack's Demers over her glove side.
