BOSTON- Despite a goal from Katy Knoll just 56 seconds into the game, the No. 3 Northeastern women's hockey team fell, 2-1, to the Providence Friars in overtime on Friday night in Matthews Arena.
Knoll blasted out of the gate for the Huskies with her eighth goal of the season under a minute into the game, continuing the Northeastern (25-4-2, 21-3-0 HEAW) trend of scoring in the first period. Matti Hartman and Mia Brown each had assists on Knoll's goal.
The Friars (16-11-4, 13-9-2 HEAW) notched two power-play goals off the stick of Lauren DeBlois to claim the come-from-behind victory in overtime against the Huskies.
Goaltender Aerin Frankel finished with 37 saves and Providence's Sandra Abstreiter finished with 31.
