DURHAM, N.H. - University of New Hampshire senior forward Meghara McManus (Milton, Mass.) tallied a game-winning goal 2:02 into the extra period as the Wildcats women's hockey team defeated the University of Vermont 2-1 on Friday evening.

The goal was McManus' team-leading seventh of the season, on a shot from senior captain Carlee Turner (Scottsdale, Ariz.) that bounced through traffic and eventually off of McManus.

After the Wildcats tallied an early first period goal, the Catamounts responded early in the third period to force the extra period. UNH's first goal came from sophomore Emily Rickwood (Brantford, Ontario), her fifth of the season.

- In a scoreless second period, both teams had shortened power plays as they skated 4-on-4 in the middle of the period. UVM outshot UNH 8-7 in that period.

- At 6:49 into the third period, UVM scored their first goal of the night on a drive from Eve-Audrey Picard who clipped a shot off the crossbar and into the net to equalize.

The high shot deflected off of a Vermont stick, off of the shoulder of Meghara McManus, and over the head of the UVM goaltender for McManus' first game-winner of the season.
