Kevin Regan posted his third shutout of the season

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Bobby Butler and Brad Flaishans each scored once and goalie Kevin Regan made 28 saves as league-leading New Hampshire earned a 2-0 Hockey East victory over Boston College before 5,281 fans in Kelley Rink.

UNH extended its lead over second-place BC to eight points in the conference standings. Just three points separate BC from sixth-place Boston University after Friday's results.

Butler tallied his 10th score of the season - the gamewinner - at 5:02 of the second period.

Senior defenseman Brad Flaishans gave the visiting Wildcats a 2-0 lead with a power-play goal with 6:36 left in the game.

Regan tallied five saves in the first period, 13 in the middle stanza and 10 in the final frame to earn his third shutout of the season.

Eagles' freshman goalie John Muse stopped 27 shots in the losing effort.

New Hampshire tallied a 29-28 edge in shots.

The teams will conclude the home-and-home series on Saturday, Feb. 23 at New Hampshire's Whittemore Center.
