UConn Earns Shootout Win After 3-3 Tie At Boston College
Junior forward Jonny Evans scored the game-tying goal and in the shootout for the Huskies

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - UConn came back from 3-1 down in the third period to force overtime and earned an extra Hockey East point in a shootout against top-ranked Boston College on Friday afternoon at Kelley Rink. The game is officially recorded as a tie between the Eagles (8-2-1) and Huskies (5-5-2).

With an extra attacker on the ice, Vladislav Firstov set up Jonny Evans for the game-tying goal with a minute remaining in regulation. Both players went on to score in the shootout for the Huskies, who snapped the Eagles' three-game winning streak.

Captain Marc McLaughlin established a new career-high with his sixth goal in only the 11th game of the season. The junior is only one point away from matching his career-high in scoring (12), set last year as a sophomore.

Rookie Harrison Roy collected his first career goal in the second period, giving Boston College 15 different goal scorers on the season. Junior Casey Carreau had an unassisted goal in the third period for his second of the year while adding an assist for a multi-point night.

Spencer Knight made 39 saves in net with 17 coming in the second period, including several of his best stops of the night. The sophomore made back-to-back right pad saves from close range on Nick Capone during a UConn power play near the midway point of the game. Later in the middle frame, he robbed Carter Turnbull on a sprawling glove side near the right post. In the shootout, Firstov and Evans both found the glove side to beat Knight and Mike Hardman hit the right post at the opposite net to end the night. Hardman registered a game-high eight shots on goal for BC.

The teams combined to go 0-for-9 on the power play.
