BOSTON, Mass. - The No. 14 Providence College men's hockey team closed out the first half of a home-and-home series with a 4-2 win on the road against No. 17 Northeastern University on Saturday afternoon at Matthews Arena.

NOTES
-Tyce Thompson put the Friars on the board at 7:05 with his ninth goal of the season. Nick Poisson and Uula Ruikka assisted on Thompson's goal from the side of the net.
-Northeastern responded at 11:27 with a goal from Jordan Harris on the power play, tying the score up at 1-1.
-Jason O'Neill put the Friars back in the lead, 2-1, off of a steal on the power play. O'Neill intercepted a clearing attempt in the Northeastern zone and buried a point-blank shot past Murphy.
-The teams skated through a scoreless second period, with the Friars leading in shots 17-10 through 40 minutes.
-Jamie Engelbert found the back of the net off of a turnover, giving the Friars a 3-1 lead 14:28 into the third period. John McDermott earned his first point of the season after feathering a saucer pass to Engelbert for the sophomore's third goal of the year.
-The Huskies cut their deficit by one with a goal from Gunnarwolfe Fontaine with 1:09 to go in regulation, 3-2.
-Northeastern pulled goalie Connor Murphy for an extra skater in attempt to score the equalizer but could not convert. Matt Koopman scored on the empty net with 9 seconds to go in regulation, closing out the game at 4-2. Greg Printz earned the assist on Koopman's goal.
-The Friars killed off three power play chances for the Huskies in the third period to secure the win.
-Jaxson Stauber finished the night stopping 11-of-13 shots.
-Two of Jamie Engelbert's three goals this season have served as the game-winning goal.
-Providence holds a 2-0-1 advantage over the Huskies in the season series entering tomorrow night's game.
-The Friars improved to 5-2-2 on the road this season, outscoring opponents 28-17 in those games.
