Boston, Mass. - Freshman winger Louise Warren and junior center Jenn Wakefield scored for fifth-ranked Boston University in a 2-1 win over St. Lawrence in women's ice hockey action on Friday night at Walter Brown Arena. The Terriers (5-1) have now won five straight games, while the Saints (1-3-1) are winless in their last three outings.

Freshman goalkeeper Kerrin Sperry made a season-high 25 saves to earn the win in net and improve to 4-0 in her young collegiate career. Junior defenseman Tara Watchorn assisted on both BU goals.

Warren netted her second goal of the season when she jammed the puck through a scrum in front of the net halfway through the first period, with freshman center Marie-Philip Poulin assisting on the play.

After a scoreless second period, Wakefield struck with a short-handed tally early in the third, taking a pass from senior winger Jillian Kirchner and beating a defender to score on a backhand shot. It was the seventh goal of the season for Wakefield, who has scored a goal in every game thus far in her first season with the Terriers.

The Saints ended Sperry's shutout bid 17:25 into the third period while skating with an extra attacker on a power play for a 6-on-4 advantage. Junior winger Vanessa Emond redirected sophomore defenseman's Brooke Fernandez's shot from the point for her second goal of the season, with freshman defenseman Bailey Habscheid picking up the second assist on the play.

Maxie Weisz made 27 saves in goal for the Saints.

The Terriers are back in action on Saturday (Oct. 23), hosting Clarkson at Walter Brown Arena. The puck drops at 3 p.m. and can be seen on BU All-Access on GoTerriers.com.
