Junior forward Savannah Norcross scored a goal for the Eagles

ERIE, Pa. - The No. 7 Boston College women's hockey team saw its season come to an end on Tuesday night, falling to No. 3 Ohio State 3-1 in the NCAA tournament quarterfinal at Erie Insurance Arena. The Buckeyes advance to face Wisconsin in the national semifinal round.

Boston College opened the scoring, with Savannah Norcross finding the back of the net midway through the first period. Ohio State, though, would score twice in the final five minutes of the second period to take a 2-1 lead. The Buckeyes got an insurance goal with seven minutes to play in the third period.

SCORING

1st, 9:15 | 1-0, BC GOAL: Kelly Browne and Hannah Bilka dug the puck out of the right corner, and Bilka dished it to Norcross in the high slot. Norcross then rifled a wrist shot under the crossbar.

2nd, 16:33 | 1-1, OSU GOAL: Abigail Levy saved an initial power-play shot from Liz Schepers but Jenna Buglioni was able to follow the rebound and backhand it in at the left post.

2nd, 19:24 | 1-2, OSU GOAL: On another down-low play, it was Brooke Bink that muscled the loose puck in just inside the left post.

3rd, 13:30 | 1-3, OSU GOAL: Emma Maltais threw a puck off the end boards and it popped back out, and it banked off of Levy's left pad and trickeld inside the left post.


GAME NOTES

- The Eagles are now 8-12 all-time in the NCAA tournament with a mark of 7-5 in the quarterfinal ... BC is now 1-7 in neutral site NCAA tournament games.

- BC is now 9-15-2 all-time against teams ranked No. 3 in the country.

- BC now holds a 0-2-0 record in the all-time series with Ohio State ... this was the second overall meeting and the second in the NCAA tournament quarterfinal round.

- Savannah Norcross, Kelly Browne and Hannah Bilka recorded their first career NCAA tournament points.
