Junior goaltender Samantha Carpentier-Yelle made 29 saves for the Huskies

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's hockey team (6-9-1) snapped their losing streak with a 3-0 win against Maine on Friday evening at the Mark Freitas Ice Forum.

Goaltender Samantha Carpentier-Yelle posted her third shutout of the season on the strength of 29 saves.

The Huskies and Black Bears were locked in a 0-0 goaltending battle until the 9:46 mark in the second period when Natalie Snodgrass was able to break through with her fifth goal of the season.

Snodgrass and junior Viki Harkness played a give-and-go that set up the senior captain with a wide open goal to burry her 57th career goal.

The game remained 1-0 UConn until late in the third period when Danika Pasqua was able to slip a shot through the pads of Porter and give the Huskies a much needed insurance goal.

Jada Habisch sealed the win with an impressive empty net goal that had her lying on the ice with her back to goal and was able to reach her stick above her head and slide home her fourth goal of the season.
