Boston College defended its number one national ranking with a sweep of Maine in Chestnut Hill. Junior captain Marc McLaughlin (North Billerica, Mass.) led the Eagles with three assists and four points, setting up both game-winning goals in the series. Spencer Knight, BC (Darien, Conn.) moved to 14-1-1 on the year, and earned his eighth career shutout on Saturday with a 24-save performance, moving into a tie for fourth place on Boston College’s all-time shutout list.

Boston University toppled UConn in on Saturday in Storrs, Connecticut as freshman Luke Tuch (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) struck 44 seconds into overtime to win 3-2 after the Terriers trailed 2-0.

Merrimack took a 1-0-1 record in a home-and-home series with New Hampshire, led by four assists from defenseman Declan Carlile (Hartland, Mich.) The sophomore rearguard blocked eight shots, including six Saturday, to up his NCAA-leading 3.33 blocked shots per game pace.

Northeastern and UMass Lowell split a series that saw the road team win each night. Led by a career-high three points from senior Charlie Levesque (Russell, Ont.), the River Hawks picked up a 4-1 road win at No. 16 Northeastern (8-6-2) on Friday. The next night, Huskies goaltender Connor Murphy (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) bounced back Saturday for a 32-save performance and his second shutout of the season.

Marc McLaughlin - Boston College

Marc McLaughlin (North Billerica, Mass.) led the Boston College Eagles with three assists and four points in a weekend sweep of Maine. The junior captain earned his eighth and ninth multi-point games of the season, setting up both game-winning goals in the series. McLaughlin has factored in on 10 of his team’s 15 game-winning goals, scoring five.

Luke Tuch - Boston University

Luke Tuch (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) struck just 44 seconds into overtime on Saturday at UConn to secure a 3-2 win for the Terriers. It was Tuch’s fifth goal of the year, the second of the game-winning variety, and completed a three-goal rally after BU trailed, 2-0, in the first period. The freshman forward finished the evening with five shots on net.

Declan Carlile - Merrimack

Declan Carlile (Hartland, Mich.) did everything for the Warriors in a 1-0-1 mark weekend over New Hampshire. The sophomore rearguard totaled four points (all assists) in the two games, which included three on the power play. He also combined for eight blocked shots, including six Saturday, to up his NCAA-leading 3.33 blocked shots per game pace.


HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS

Spencer Knight, BC (So., G; Darien, Conn.) Earned two more wins, moving to 14-1-1 on the year, as he turned aside 48 of the 50 shots he faced from Maine on the weekend to earn a .960 save percentage. He earned his eighth career shutout on Saturday with a 24-save performance, moving into a tie for fourth place on Boston College’s all-time shutout list.

Jay O'Brien, BU (So., F; Hingham, Mass.) Scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday’s 3-2 come-from-behind overtime win at UConn. O’Brien netted the Terrier’s first tally at 19:09 of the first before setting up the game-tying goal at 13:59 of the second. The sophomore now has six points (4g, 2a) in his last three games, including a game-winning goal and game-winning assist.

Logan Cockerill, BU (Sr., F: Brighton, Mich.) Dished out three assists, including the primary helpers on the game-tying tally and game-winning overtime goal, as he led Boston University back from a 2-0 deficit on Saturday at UConn to win, 3-2..

Charlie Levesque, UML (Sr., F; Russell, Ont.) Logged a career-high three points (2g, 1a) as the River Hawks picked up a 4-1 road win at No. 16 Northeasterns on Friday.

Filip Forsmark, MC (So., F; Skovde, Sweden) Had a career-high three points Saturday against UNH when he fired home his fourth goal of the season and added two assists, all on the power play. He took over the team lead in points over the weekend with 11 in 16 games on three goals and eight helpers.

Ty Jackson, NU (Fr., F; Oakville, Ont.) Had a goal and an assist in the Huskies 4-0 win Saturday over UMass Lowell. His goal was a rocket that came with 0.2 left on the clock in the third. He now has seven goals on the season, tied for first among league freshman.

Connor Murphy, NU (So., G; Hudson Falls, N.Y.) Bounced back Saturday for a 32-save performance while getting his second shutout of the season. Murphy also assisted on the Jackson goal for his second assist on the season.
