ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine men's ice hockey team defeated the University of Vermont Catamounts, 6-1, on Friday night in the Alfond Arena. Six different Black Bears scored in the Hockey East victory.

First Goal (Vermont 1-0): Bryce Misley scored the first goal of the night just over halfway through the first period. From behind the Maine net, Thomas Beretta flipped a pass to Misley. Left all alone in front of an open net, the Vermont fourth line center gave his squad a 1-0 advantage.

Second Goal (1-1): The Black Bears made quick work of their first power play opportunity of the evening. Mitchell Fossier surveyed the defense and found Eduards Tralmaks. The junior forward spun and dished a perfect pass to Adam Dawe. Dawe buried the puck into a wide open Vermont net. At the end of one period, the Hockey East contest was tied at one goal apiece.

Third Goal (#17 Maine 2-1): At the end of a five minute power play, Eduards Tralmaks found the back of the net. Instead of being credited with the assist on a goal, Tralmaks was the goal scorer. Mitchell Fossier set up the forward with a beautiful pass. Five minutes into the second period, Maine had a one goal lead.

Fourth Goal (#17 Maine 3-1): Less than 1:30 after the Tralmaks' goal, Ryan Smith scored one of his own. AJ Drobot stole the puck in the neutral zone. JD Greenway corralled the loose puck at the blue line. The defenseman waited until Smith had some wiggle room. Greenway put the puck on Smith's stick as the forward added to the Black Bears' lead.

Fifth Goal (#17 Maine 4-1): Jack Quinlivan scored his first of the year just over halfway through the third period. The fourth line was responsible for the Black Bears' fourth goal of the night.

Sixth Goal (#17 Maine 5-1): Mitchell Fossier, who surpassed Paul Kariya on the Maine all-time points list, scored an odd man rush goal for the Black Bears. Patrick Shea set up the goal scoring chance for the captain. It would not take long for Fossier to repay the favor.

Seventh Goal (#17 Maine 6-1): In the final minute of the Hockey East contest, Patrick Shea scored Maine's sixth and final goal. Fossier was credited with an assist. The 6-1 score would stand as Maine defeated Vermont in the Alfond Arena.
