PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Junior defenseman Cam McDonald scored twice, including the game-winning goal 2:03 into overtime as the No. 12/13 Providence College men's hockey team downed American International, 2-1, on Saturday night at Schneider Arena.

NOTES

- Both teams skated through the opening twenty minutes scoreless, as Providence outshot AIC 13-6.

- The Friars grabbed a lead, 1-0, with 5:00 remaining in the second period off of Cam McDonald's second strike of the season with assists from Matt Koopman and Alex Esposito.

- AIC leveled the score, 1-1, with a short-handed goal from Chris Dodero at 7:46 of the final period. The goal was reviewed for potential goaltender interference but the call on the ice ultimately stood.

- Providence led in shots, 29-20, as the teams entered overtime.

- McDonald netted his second goal of the night 2:03 into overtime for the game-winner. McDonald buried the puck behind Kucharski off a feed from Nick Poisson. Jaxson Stauber earned the secondary assist on the play for his first career point. It was McDonald's second-career multi-point game and first multi-goal effort.

- Stauber stopped 19 of 20 shots in the win. Former Friar Jake Kucharski mades 28 saves for the Yellow Jackets.

- Providence snapped a three-game losing streak with the victory on Friday night.
