Junior Dominique Thibault had the game-tying goal and an assist

STORRS, Conn. (Sept.26, 2008) - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team concluded its lone exhibition game at Mark Freitas Ice Forum with a 4-4 tie against Dawson College on Friday night. Dominique Thibault (L'Original, Ont./Montreal Axion NWHL) scored the game-tying goal on a power-play in the third period.

UConn jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the second period after scoring three unanswered goals. Samantha Reid (Innisfil, Ont./Toronto Jr. Aeros Inter. AA) tied the game (1-1) at 10:50 in the first period after Dawson's Laurie Jolin struck first at 7:57.

Brittany Murphy (Tewksbury, Mass./Lawrence Academy) scored just before the midway point of the second period and Michelle Binning (Oshawa, Ont./Toronto Jr. Aeros Int. AA) followed with a short-handed goal at 11:57 (2-1).

The Blues railed back to lead 4-3 with three goals, including two power-play goals in the second period. It was Thibault's goal at 7:36 in the third period that gave the Huskies the tie.

UConn opens the 2008-09 regular season on Saturday at 4 p.m. against Sacred Heart at Freitas Ice Forum. The Huskies welcome back 16 letterwinners as well as two of the top three returning goal scorers in Thibault and Nicole Tritter (Toronto, Ont./Toronto Jr. Aeros Int. AA). Thibault and Tritter will serve as team co-captains for the Huskies.
