VERMONT CATAMOUNTS FALL TO NORTH DAKOTA FIGHTING SIOUX, 4-1

Senior forward Celeste Doucet had a goal for the Catamounts

BURLINGTON, Vt. - Monique Lamoureux-Kolls had three goals and one assist as the eighth-ranked North Dakota Fighting Sioux defeated Vermont 4-1 at Gutterson Fieldhouse Friday night.

Vermont opened the scoring one-minute into the first period. Kelli Dineen left the puck at the point for Emily Walsh who directed a shot towards the North Dakota net. Celeste Doucet redirected the puck in front past Stephanie Ney (11 saves) for her fourth goal of the season.

The Fighting Sioux responded at the 8:10 mark of the first. Lamoureux-Kolls took the puck on the cycle from her sister Jocelyne Lamoureux and fired a slap-shot from the slot past Kelci Lanthier (37 saves) who was screened on the play.

The Lamoureuxs struck again early in the second period. Lamoureux-Kolls passed to Jocelyne entering the Vermont zone and she wired a slap-shot past Lanthier 3:14 into the frame. Lamoureux's team leading 17th goal of the season was also assisted by Holly Perkins.

In the third period Lamoureux-Kolls put the game out of reach with two goals in the first five minutes. Monique took a feed from Jocelyne, skated along the blueline and beat Lanthier glove side at the 2:42 mark. Margot Miller was credited with the second assist on the goal.

Lamoureux-Knolls completed her first hat-trick of the season on a solo effort. She skated the puck from the faceoff-circle into the Vermont zone and beat Lanthier with a well placed wrist-shot at the 4:54 mark of the third.

North Dakota improves to 10-7-2 on the season, while the Catamounts fall to 4-9-8 overall.

Vermont and No. 8 North Dakota meet again on Saturday (Jan. 8) at 4 p.m at Gutterson Fieldhouse. The game will be streamed live online via CatamounTV on a pay-per-view basis of $4.99/game.
