Sophomore Haley Skarupa scored a goal for the Eagles

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Haley Skarupa scored her team-leading 14th goal of the season and Corinne Boyles tied her season high with 39 saves in a 1-1 tie against Northeastern at Kelley Rink on Saturday afternoon.

Northeastern took a 1-0 lead late in the first period when Hayley Scamurra rocketed a shot into the top right corner of the net over Boyles' glove-side shoulder. The strike at 13:28 of the opening stanza marked Scamurra's third of the season.

Haley Skarupa scored the equalizer just 1:37 later when she skated into the slot and lifted a Kate Leary pass into the top of the net to knot the score at 1-1. Skarupa quickly took advantage of a tripping call on Northeastern's Melissa Haganey, scoring six seconds into the power play. The tally ended a six-game goal drought for the Rockville, Md. native.

Kristyn Capizzano had a chance to put the Eagles ahead at 6:55 of the second period when she split the defense and found herself on a breakaway, but NU netminder Chloe Desjardins made the stop on the freshhman's shot from in close.

The Eagles and the Huskies both had great scoring opportunities late in the middle stanza, but neither was able to find the back of the net. Melissa Bizzari got loose on a breakaway at 1:08 but Desjardins made the save yet again, and Scamurra made a bid for her second goal of the game for NU with less than a minute to play in the second period, but her shot hit the pipe and bounced out.

Boston College played 5-on-3 for 1:34 late in the third period, but was unable to capitalize on either power play.

The Eagles outshot the Huskies 41-to-40 in the contest.

Boyles stopped 39 shots and moves to 9-4-2. Desjardins made 40 saves and is now 7-10-2.

BC was 1-for-6 on the power play, while NU went 0-for-3 on the man advantage.
