MAINE SKATES TO 1-1 TIE AT PENN STATE

Senior forward Brianne Kilgour scored a goal for the Black Bears

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.-The University of Maine women's ice hockey team tied Penn State 1-1 in overtime. Brianne Kilgour (Hamilton, Ontario) scored Maine's lone goal. Maine moves to a 0-12-4 on the season and Penn State moves to a 3-12-2.

Black Bears and Lions battled in the first period but both team remained scoreless. Maine had 14 shots while Penn State had 5 shots on goal in the first period.

The Lions struck first late in the second period when Shannon Yoxheimer put the puck by Maine goalie Mariah Fujimagari (Markham, Ontario) at 14:45, Hannah Hoenshell had the assist.

The Black Bears scored in the final minute of the second period when Kilgour knocked the puck in on a pass from Karissa Kirkup (Virden, Manitoba) at 19:21.

Both teams remained scoreless in the third period. Penn State outshot Maine 10 to 8 in the third.

Maine had 6 shots on goal in overtime but weren't able to get the puck by Penn State goalie Nicole Paniccia. Black Bear defense held the Lions to 0 shots in overtime.

Maine outshot the Lions 45-30.

Fujimagari had 30 saves while Paniccia stopped 44 for the Lions.

Maine returns home next weekend to take on Brown on Friday Dec. 6th the puck drops at 2pm.
