ORONO, Me. - The University of Maine Women's Ice Hockey team defeated Brown University Saturday night 4-1 to take both games of the weekend series.

With the win, Maine improves to 4-4-0 on the year while Brown drops to 0-2-0 on the season.

Meghann Tracey started in net for the Black Bears, her eighth start this season.

The Black Bears opened the game with a penalty 24 seconds in to put Brown on the power play. Brown was unable to convert as Maine killed off the power play.

Brown later scored the first goal of the game, Bridget Carey gave Brown a 1-0 lead.

16 second later, Abbey Cook scored her ssecond goal of the season to tie the game a 1-1.

Maine scored once more before the end of the period giving the Black Bears a 2-1 lead heading into the intermission. Maine outshot Brown 13-8 in the period.

In the second period, Maine and Brown traded shots on goal. Brown shooting four and Maine shooting seven. The Black Bears got the lone goal of the second period from Brooke Stacey, her third of the season, giving Maine a 3-1 advantage.

Midway through the third, Emilie Brigham gave Maine their fourth goal of the game and a 4-1 lead that they carried to the final.

Mariah Fujimagari appeared in the final eight minutes of the third and recorded one save.

Meghann Tracey received the win and is 4-4-0 on the year, she finished with 16 saves.

The Black Bears return to action Oct. 30 at 7:00 p.m. against Providence.
