PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's ice hockey team downed New Hampshire after coming back from a 3-1 score in the second period. Providence scored four third period goals to win the game, 6-3. Providence improves to 7-7-1 and 4-3-1 in Hockey East while New Hampshire moves to 4-11-0 and 3-6-0 in Hockey East.

New Hampshire took the lead, 2-1, in the first period.

As a Friar penalty expired, the Wildcats scored the first goal of the game from Kate Haslett at 11:31.

Providence responded with their fourth shorthanded tally of the year and Danielle Hardy's (Naniamo, British Columbia) first of the season. Hardy interrupted a Wildcat breakout in the neutral zone and took a snap shot at the tops of the circles to sneak past New Hampshire's Kyra Smith.

With 1:55 remaining in the opening period, New Hampshire took back the lead with a goal from Marie-Jo Pelletier.

Alanna Serviss (Chicago, Ill.) finished the first period with six saves.

Just over four minutes into the second period New Hampshire extended their lead to 3-1 by way of Meghara McManus.

Providence responded with a power play goal just under three minutes later. Christina Putigna (Grimsby, Ontario) moved the puck across the blue line to Whitney Dove (Port Moody, British Columbia). Dove took a one-timer that deflected just wide of the net for a wide open Cassidy Carels (Bruxelles, Manitoba) to put away her eighth of the year and close the New Hampshire lead to 3-2.

Madison Myers (Colchester, Vt.) made 14 saves in the second period.

Brooke Boquist (Thunder Bay, Ontario) extended her point streak to three games with the game-tying goal. Kate Friesen (Altona, Manitoba) broke the puck out of the defensive zone and fed a breaking Boquist along the boards, who skated into the offensive zone and wristed a shot into the top corner of the net, cleanly beating Smith. The equalizer came 1:35 into the final period.

Boquist recorded her second goal of the game a little under six minutes later. Rachel Rockwell (Broadview Heights, Ohio) moved the puck to Putigna and then to Boquist in the corner. The junior forward skated out of the corner at the net and again beat Smith's glove with a quick wrist shot and a 4-3 Friar lead.

Carels added her second of the day 1:19 minutes later, when freshman Neve Van Pelt (Mitchell, Ontario) picked up a loose puck in the slot and immediately fed a wide-open Carels at the back door, to put the Friars ahead 5-3.

Putigna added her third point of the game with a goal at 13:41 of the third period. In a two-on-one opportunity Boquist moved the puck across the slot to Putigna, who batted it in for her sixth of the season.

Myers finished two periods with 24 saves.

The Friars will play the Wildcats on Nov. 20 at 2:00 p.m. in Durham, N.H. at Whittemore Center.
