HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES

No. 1 Boston College opened its Hockey East slate with a two-game sweep of UMass Lowell. Cutter Gauthier scored a power-play goal in each win and added an assist, while Gabe Perreault posted four assists.

No. 9 Boston University skated to a weekend split with No. 3 North Dakota, powered by four goals from Lane Hutson. Devin Kaplan added one goal and two assists of his own, including a third-period equalizer on Saturday to force overtime. He had the primary helper on Luke Tuch’s game-winning goal on Friday.

No. 20 Maine swept No. 20 Merrimack with three goals from rookie forward Bradly Nadeau. He netted the game-winning goal in Friday’s 2-1 victory and set up the decisive tally in Saturday night’s win.

No. 7 Providence earned five of six points from No. 15 New Hampshire, taking a shootout win after a 1-1 draw and a 2-0 triumph the next night. Philip Svedeback stopped 48 of 49 shots he faced over the weekend, including a 20-save shutout on Saturday, and turned away all four shootout attempts on Friday night.

Vermont and UConn split a weekend series in Burlington. Will Zapernick and Isak Walther had a goal and an assist each in Friday’s 4-1 win. The next night, UConn scored three times in a span of 38 seconds in the third period to jump out to an eventual 5-2 victory.

Lane Hutson - Boston University

Lane Hutson (So., D; North Barrington, Ill.) scored his first career hat trick on Saturday against No. 3 North Dakota. He netted three straight goals for the Terriers, including two in a span of 2:08 late in the second period to turn a 3-1 deficit into a 3-3 tie. Hutson also lit the lamp in Friday’s 3-2 win and finished the weekend as a plus-four. He is the first Terrier defenseman to record a hat trick since David Farrance on Nov. 9, 2019.

Bradly Nadeau - Maine

Bradly Nadeau (Fr., F: St-François-de-Madawaska, N.B.) had three goals on the weekend, including one game-winning strike and one game-winning assist in a sweep of No. 20 Merrimack. He tied second in the conference with 12 shots on goal was tied first in Hockey East with a plus-four rating.

Aram Minnetian - Boston College

Aram Minnetian (Fr., D; Woodcliff Lake, N.J.) scored the game-winning goal in his Hockey East debut, finding the game of the net in the third period of Friday’s 3-2 win over UMass Lowell. It was his first collegiate goal.

Philip Svedeback - Providence

Philip Svedeback (So., G; Vaxjo, Sweden) led all Hockey East netminders this week with a 0.48 GAA, .980 save percentage and one shutout. The sophomore stopped 48-of-49 shots he faced over the weekend and turned away all four shootout attempts on Friday night at No. 15 New Hampshire. He stopped all 20 shots he faced in a 2-0 win at home at the Wildcats on Saturday night.


HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS

Cutter Gauthier, BC (So., F; Scottsdale, Ariz.) Scored a power play goal in each win over UMass Lowell and added an assist for a three-point weekend. He finished the series sweep with seven shots on goal and extended his goal scoring streak to four games (5g).

Gabe Perreault, BC (Fr., F; Hindsale, Ill.) Posted four assists in a weekend sweep of UMass Lowell, including a career-high three assist performance on Saturday at the Tsongas Center. Collected a plus-two rating in the series and now leads Hockey East with 10 helpers.

Jacob Fowler, BC (Fr., G; Melbourne, Fla.) Stopped 55 of 59 shots for a .932 save percentage in a weekend sweep of UMass Lowell in his Hockey East debut. The freshman goaltender improved to 7-1-0 through eight starts in his rookie season and has backboned the Eagles to the top-ranking in the nation.

Macklin Celebrini, BU (Fr., F; Vancouver, B.C.) Recorded three assists over the weekend against No. 3 North Dakota, including two helpers on Saturday. He also led BU with 12 shots on goal across the two games.

Devin Kaplan, BU (So., F; Bridgewater, N.J.) Tallied one goal and two assists over the weekend, including a third-period equalizer on Saturday to force overtime against No. 3 North Dakota. He had the primary helper on Luke Tuch’s game-winning goal on Friday.

Matthew Wood, UConn (So., F; Nanimo, B.C.) Scored two goals in 12 seconds, including the game-winner, to help the Huskies come back and beat Vermont on Saturday in a 5-2 win.

Ethan Haider, UConn (Sr., G; St. Louis Park, Minn.) Made 27 saves while allowing two goals in a victory over Vermont Saturday.

Josh Nadeau, Maine (Fr., F: St-François-de-Madawaska, N.B.) Dished out three assists in a weekend sweep at No. 20 Merrimack.

Brandon Chabrier, Maine (So., D; Bayville, N.Y.) Scored his second goal of the season tied first in the conference with a plus-four rating.

Alex Jefferies, MC (Sr., F; Lunenburg, Mass.) Scored twice in Merrimack’s 5-4 setback to No. 20 Maine on Saturday, in his second game back from injury.

Zach Bookman, MC (So., D; Syracuse, N.Y.) Had an assist in each of Merrimack’s games against No. 20 Maine.

Hugo Ollas, MC (Jr., G; Linkoping, Sweden) Made 28 saves this weekend against No. 20 Maine, 20 saves in a start on Friday and 8 stops in a relief appearance the next night.

Liam Valente, PC (So., F; Marsta, Sweden) Scored a power-play goal and registered the winning strike in the shootout at UNH on Friday night to earn the extra Hockey East point after a 1-1 draw. He has already matched his goal total (3) from last season in just eight games this season.
