BOSTON - The no. 10/11 Northeastern men's ice hockey team (14-4-1) took down Long Island University (4-13-3) by a score of 1-0 on Friday evening, January 7 at Matthews Arena.

A stalemate for 50 minutes, the Huskies got a game-winning goal from sophomore Ty Jackson 10:19 into the final frame to come out on top of this non-conference battle.

- Both teams skated even to start the game with shots even at 8-8 after the first period, and LIU taking a slight shot advantage 7-6 in the second.

- The Huskies killed off four penalties in the first two periods, while earning a major power play towards the end of the second period. Neither team was able to convert on the power play.

- Jackson's goal (2) came 10 minutes into the final frame on a shot from Jayden Struble that bounced in the crease and found Jackson who batted it in. Jakov Novak had the secondary assist, feeding the puck to Struble from beside the net.

- Devon Levi notched his seventh shutout of the season, continuing his stellar stretch that dates back to November allowing one or fewer goals in the last five contests.

- Levi's save percentage of .955 entering the weekend leads the NCAA. He stopped all 18 LIU shots on the evening. His record on the season is now 14-4-1.

- This was the first meeting of Northeastern and LIU, with the Sharks in their second season of D1 play.
